THE PROBLEM
Our kids are assaulted every day with crazy concepts and negative messages from the internet and from friends who learn them from the internet. Bullying is getting worse because of the internet. Kids are innocent, vulnerable and easily confused by actions, concepts, topics and ideas that are inappropriate. Our children need our help and protection to grow up emotionally healthy.
WHO WE ARE
Vitainment is the official non-profit incorporation of the actual cause behind the creation of Feature Films for Families more than 30 years ago.
Vitainment is a contraction of the words Vitamins and Entertainment. It is entertainment that is positive, vital and healthy for the development of prosocial neural pathways of the brain in much the same way that vitamins are healthy for the physical body. Vitainment is media designed to trigger positive mirror neurons in everyone's brain, especially children.

What We Do
Vitainment makes it easy for parents and grandparents to share a curated collection of streamable movies that show essential, time-tested, positive values in action designed to empower kids to become the best they can be by creating, stimulating, and strengthening their positive prosocial neural pathways.
Vitainment.org's "The Sharin' Project" is all about sharing. You can simply get a streaming channel to share with your family OR for the same price, you can donate a streaming channel to a school classroom. When you donate, you get your own streaming channel free with even more content.
The classroom streaming channel is then shared with all the students in the classroom to be watched anytime, anyplace. Alone, with other students, or with their families.

WHAT INSPIRED THE SHARIN’ PROJECT CONCEPT?
The Sharin’ Project is a "Watch a Video at Home Character Education Initiative.” It is modeled after the Feature Films for Families “Take A Video Home Character Education Program.” Character Education by public schools is a requirement under Federal and most state laws.
In the early 1990s, Feature Films for Families introduced a character education program for elementary schools called “Take A Video Home.”
This program sent, at no cost to the school, enough copies of the movie The Buttercream Gang for every 4th - 6th grader to take a VHS tape home and watch it with their family over the same weekend. K - 3rd grades also took home an animated VHS tape.
Thousands of elementary schools and hundreds of thousands of students participated.
The results were astounding!
Principal after principal contacted us and told us the behavior of the student body on the playground dramatically changed! Kids stopped bullying and actually started helping other kids.
What this showed was that when a larger group watched a Vitainment film at relatively the same time, the activation of mirror neurons to build new neural pathways that each child experienced from watching the film was reinforced by the new neural pathways of all the other kids who also watched. And behavior for the whole school changed.
Feature Films for Families also received letter after letter of the positive effects these films had on individual children.
Unfortunately, the expense of shipping more than 400 VHS tapes to a school and back was too expensive and the time requirement for teachers and administrators to distribute and collect the tapes was too prohibitive and the program was terminated.
But today with streaming, we’re bringing the concept back on a grander scale with almost 100 Vitainment films because there is virtually no cost of sending materials, just the cost of one streaming channel.
Why Should I Donate?
Your family probably bought movies from Feature Films for Families in the past.
So you already know the values in our films and how helpful and positive their messages are.
But many of the movies you bought and shared with your kids and grandkids or watched were on VHS tapes, and VHS players are almost extinct and DVD players are becoming harder and harder to find.
We constantly hear from the children and grandchildren of Feature Films For Families customers how much they loved these movies and how beneficial and impactful in their lives they have been.
They tell us they would love to be able to watch them again and share them with their own kids and grandkids. But they can now watch them again through streaming.
They can simply get a streaming channel to share with their family OR for the same price, they can donate a streaming channel to a school classroom. When they donate, they get your own streaming channel free with even more content.
We also constantly hear grandparents complain how difficult it is to instill their values in their grandkids. Our solution… Donate a streaming channel to a school classroom.
This will help your grandkids learn values both by watching the films at home and through their friends at school talking about the films. Psychologists have long told us that classmates, friends, and peers can have a more powerful impact on children’s values than parents and grandparents, especially as kids get older.
Vitainment, through the Sharin’ Project, uses this fact to let you to help your grandkids learn values through their friends and peers at school.
This is why the “Take A Video Home” project in the 90s had such a major impact on reducing bullying and changing kids behaviors, and is also why your donation of a streaming channel to a school classroom today can have the same impact.

3. Share Your Time
To bring movies worth emulating to our schools we need your help. Many schools love and support the idea of the Sharin' project but are hesitant to increase teachers' work load for non-core educational purposes. Also, they may have restrictions on “endorsing” programs such as this on school or teacher websites. Therefore, many schools will request a parent-volunteer to facilitate the dissemination of the concept, username and password to all the parents of the students in the classroom.
It takes only a little time at the start of a school year for a parent or grandparent to share this information, which we will provide in an easily understood and shared email.
